Common questions
Do you connect to my bank?
Only if you choose Connected. Linking is read-only through Plaid, a regulated provider: you sign in on your bank's own page, we never see your password, and nothing can move money. On Free and Private you upload a CSV, OFX or PDF statement or add spending by hand, and that data stays on your device.
Where is my money data kept?
On your device. Statements, receipts, transactions, budgets and jars live in your browser's storage. Our servers hold your account, plan, group percentages, a minimal alert schedule and, on paid plans, an encrypted backup we cannot read.
What does the encrypted backup actually encrypt?
Everything in the app except statement files and receipt photos, which stay on the device they were added on. The key is made on your device; we store copies wrapped under your recovery key and, where your browser supports it, your passkey. Lose both and the backup cannot be restored.
Is there AI reading my transactions?
No. Every number comes from plain, versioned rules you can check, run on your device. There are no AI or machine-learning services in the app or on our servers.
Do jars move my money?
No. A jar is a label on money you set aside. Logging a deposit records it in the app; your money stays where it is.
What do other people in a savings challenge see?
Your display name and your percentage of your own target. Never your amounts, never your email.
How do I cancel a paid plan?
In the app: Me → Plan → Cancel plan, two taps. Your plan stays on until the end of the period you paid for, then you are on Free. Nothing is deleted; jars beyond the Free limit become read-only.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Me → Delete account, two taps. Or use the Delete your account page on this site if you cannot open the app. Your devices erase their copies the next time they open the app.
Is this financial advice?
No. Qash shows arithmetic on your own numbers and explains the ideas in plain language. Nothing in the app or on this site is financial, tax or legal advice.
